Phoenix alumni return to share advice
SSA Phoenix grads share lessons learned at student forum

Three SSA Phoenix alumni -- Samantha Avila, Tofik Saidov and Seyyar Tederov -- are deep in their college studies but managed to find time to provide advice and support to our students.

At a May discussion panel at the school our graduates shared their experiences and advice with our 11th and 12th graders about continuing their education and their intended career paths.

"My advice to 11th and 12th graders is to use their spare time doing things such as researching majors they would like to pursue, taking college credit courses, and volunteering," says Saidov. "The best thing about college for me is the freedom compared to high school: choosing classes, choosing professors, and choosing your major. The most challenging thing is time management. A lot more time needs to go towards studying and homework."

Tofik is a mechanical engineering major at the University of Arizona; Samantha attends Arizona State University where she studies biology and psychology as a pre-med student; and Seyyar studies Fine Arts at Glendale Community College.

The facilitator of the session was Fatima Said, SSA Phoenix Class of 2013.
