Sonoran Schools and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs agree that this compact outlines how the parents, entire school staff, and students will share responsibility for improved student academic achievement, and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve high standards.
Sonoran Schools will:
1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards. Administrators will all receive evaluator training on the Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teachers that will ensure that all teachers are providing the highest quality instruction at our schools.
2. Hold parent-teacher conferences for all grade levels half way through the 1st and 2nd semesters.
3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Semester Reports Cards will be sent home at the end of each semester. Progress reports will be sent home 3 times during each semester. Additionally, all parents will have access to CoolSIS, the Student Information System, that is updated by teachers regularly to monitor their child’s grades.
4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Staff will be available for consultation with parents before or after the school by appointment. They can also be reached by phone or email.
5. Parents will be given the opportunity to sign up with the school administration to volunteer in their child’s classroom, chaperone field trips, after and weekend school clubs and activities.
As a parent at Sonoran Science Academy, I will do my best to do the following:
• I will regularly monitor my child's grades, attendance and behavior records.
• I will ensure my child attends school regularly and is on time.
• I will schedule time every night for my child to study.
• I will encourage quality work and completion of homework assignments.
• I will support the value of various types of homework.
• I will demonstrate academic integrity and not give so much help that the value of the homework will be destroyed.
• I will contact the classroom teacher if problems develop that are not resolved by the student.
• I will contact the classroom teacher if a student is struggling with homework.
• I will act respectfully to teachers, administrators, and other parents and students.
• I will show support for teachers and administrators, setting an example for my child.
• I will ensure my child comes to school dressed appropriately and in compliance with the uniform/dress code policy.
