Sonoran Science Academy - Phoenix - Math (9-12)
Sonoran Science Academy – Phoenix, a STEM public charter school, provides a rigorous, college prep, STEM-focused education through a challenging comprehensive curriculum and continuous assessment. Paragon Science Academy - EL Coodinator (K-12) - Immediate Opening

We are looking for dedicated teachers who are passionate about student learning, as well as the ability to impact the whole child through inspiring lessons, staff leadership of student extracurricular activities, continuous professional growth and collaboration among staff.

Responsibilities include:
•      Coordinate and administer AZELLA testing
•      Review and verify enrollment applications to identify students needing EL services
•      Track student proficiency
•      Work with small groups of students in a classroom setting
•      Other duties relevant to the EL Coordinator position as identified and assigned by the school administration
Successful teacher candidates will meet the following requirements:

•      Bachelors’ degree from an accredited institution.  Masters’ preferred.
•      Arizona Department of Education Certification (preferred) or, 
•      Highly Qualified through AEPA/NES testing or equivalent 
•      Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

We are currently recruiting for the following middle and high school position for the 2019-2020 school year:

•      The English Language Development (ELD) Instructor  

Under general supervision, English Language Development Teacher, also known as the ELD Teacher, serves as a specialist for students who are learning English as a second language. The ELD teacher works in a program designed to provide direct English Language Development instruction in the classroom, small groups and/or individual student settings. In addition to this specific individualized instruction, the EL teacher Coach will serve as a coach, co-teacher, and ELD specialist in schools to increase the capacity of all classroom teachers to meet the cultural, linguistic, and academic needs of ELLs (English Language Learners) during language, literacy, and content instruction and to provide support in the implementation of interventions for ELLs who are not making sufficient growth with universal instruction alone. The ELL teacher works under the supervision of the principal, dean of academics, and Director EL.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
•      Work directly with classroom teachers providing coaching and support to increase the effectiveness of ELD instruction (i.e., observation and debriefing, modeling, collaborative planning, analyzing student work, etc.);
•      Co-teach with classroom teachers modeling evidenced-based practices to build capacity of the classroom teacher;
•      Work directly with ELLs to provide English Language Development instruction at the appropriate language level;
•      Provide ongoing, targeted professional development to teachers in the areas of English Language Development instruction and scaffolded instruction across content areas.

Successful candidates will meet the following requirements:
•      K-5 and/or 6-12 teaching license (as appropriate for the position)
•      SEI endorsement or recognized equivalent.
•      Master’s in an appropriate content area (preferred, experience can replace education)
•      Requires Current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
•      Criminal background check required for hire.
